CourseForge Studio β€” Framework Integration

Design the learning. Strengthen the evidence. Improve the experience.

Three frameworks. One pathway. The FTCC Quality Review Rubric shows what quality looks like. STAGE designs the learning. QUEST strengthens the evidence. Together, they give you a complete approach to course design that holds up to review.

A complete design pathway
These aren't three separate checklists. They're three lenses on the same course β€” zoom out to see the standard, zoom in to design each module, zoom in further to review each task.
1
FTCC Quality Review Rubric
Know the standard before you design
The rubric is your target β€” 8 dimensions that define what a quality course looks like at FTCC, across every delivery mode. Read it before you build, not after. Use it as a design guide, not just a checklist to complete at the end.

2
STAGE Framework
Design each module as a learning sequence
For each module, use STAGE to move learners through a connected arc: Set the Scene (activate and orient) β†’ Transform (introduce and model) β†’ Apply (practice and produce) β†’ Gauge (formative check) β†’ Evaluate (formal evidence). This directly supports Rubric dimensions 2 through 5 β€” objectives, content, RSI, and assessment alignment.

QUEST Review Process
Review every Evaluate task before assigning it
Before you finalize any graded task β€” quiz, discussion, essay, project, presentation β€” run it through QUEST. Does it have a clear purpose (Q)? Are expectations understandable (U)? Does it produce real evidence of learning (E)? Is the format right (S)? Is the thinking demand appropriate (T)? QUEST directly strengthens Rubric dimension 5 β€” assessment design.

Quality Review
Return to the rubric to verify
Once the course is designed, use the Quality Dashboard to self-assess against all 8 rubric dimensions. Courses built with STAGE and QUEST will already address most indicators β€” the dashboard helps you see what still needs attention before your formal review.

Find your entry point
You don't have to start from scratch. Find the situation that matches yours.
Situation
I'm building a new course from scratch
  • Read the Quality Review Rubric β€” know the target before you build
  • Draft course objectives using measurable action verbs
  • Use STAGE to design each module as a learning sequence
  • Run QUEST on every Evaluate task before finalizing
  • Run the Quality Dashboard self-check before submission
Situation
I'm revising an existing course
  • Run the Quality Dashboard to identify gaps
  • Run QUEST on your highest-stakes assessments first
  • Audit each module against STAGE β€” look for missing Apply or Gauge
  • Revisit the Rubric guide for any flagged dimensions
Situation
I'm preparing for an FTCC Quality Review
  • Run the full Quality Dashboard self-assessment
  • Use the Rubric Guide to understand each indicator
  • Run QUEST on every major assessment in the course
  • Document your RSI calculation before review
Situation
I want to improve one module
  • Open the STAGE Module Planner for that module
  • Look for missing phases β€” especially Apply and Gauge
  • Run QUEST on the module's Evaluate task
  • Check Rubric dimensions 3–5 for that module's content
Situation
I want to improve one assignment
  • Run the QUEST Review Tool on that assignment
  • Address any Not Met or Partially Met dimensions
  • Check Rubric indicator 5.1–5.3 for assessment alignment
Situation
I'm a new instructional designer at FTCC
  • Start with the Quality Review Rubric Guide β€” this is the standard
  • Read through the STAGE Framework β€” this is how we design
  • Try the QUEST Review Tool on a sample assignment
  • Use the Course Map Builder with faculty to plan together
